WHAT IS "THE PEOPLE'S PLAYLIST"?

The People's Playlist is a podcast showcasing songs that represent that episode's theme, called in by you!

 

WHY IS IT CALLED "THE PEOPLE'S PLAYLIST"?

The goal of this show is to have people like you suggest songs that fit that episode's theme. I want to build a community of music lovers that want to share their interests and tastes. I want to discover new music and I want to introduce you to new music. This is a show for US.

 

WHAT ARE THESE THEMES?

Some themes will be easy, such as "Songs With Colors In The Title". Some themes will be harder, such as "Songs About Movies". The point is to find those weird common threads discovered in the music we love.

 

HOW OFTEN DO EPISODES COME OUT?

The schedule goes like this: Sunday I'll announce the theme. The following Sunday will be the deadline for requests at midnight. Then the next Sunday the episode drops. So every three weeks.

 

SO HOW CAN I SUBMIT A SONG FOR THE SHOW?

The only way I will accept a song is for you to call the hotline: (626) 782-5478. That's (626) 782-LIST

 

WAIT, SO I CAN'T EMAIL OR TEXT YOU A SONG CHOICE?

No, only by hotline. The reason I'm requiring the hotline is for a few reasons. One, it's more fun to hear your voice on the radio. Two, it keeps everyone on their toes. It also keeps everyone from being lazy. Anyone can shoot off an email, but it takes effort to call in a request. I want you to make that effort.

 

GOT IT, SO HOW DOES REQUESTING WORK? IS IT LIVE?

No, it's not live. When you call it will go straight to voicemail, so be ready to clearly say your name, what song you'd like to request, and anything else you'd like to add.

 

CAN I REQUEST ANY SONG?

As long as it fits that episode's theme, by all means. It can be country, metal, hiphop, classical, jazz, skizzglotch, whatever! That being said, I try to make each show flow with the requests I get, so stuff like death metal and minimalist ballads and showtunes will rarely fit in, but you're welcome to try. Also, any song over 7 minutes is really pushing it.

 

HOW MANY REQUESTS CAN I MAKE?

As many requests as you'd like! All I ask is that you call in separately for each song.

 

CAN I DEDICATE A SONG TO MY GIRLFRIEND/DAD/BEST FRIEND/GOLDFISH/ETC?

Totally! Dedicate away.

 

I RECORDED A SONG THAT FITS THIS THEME. CAN I SUBMIT THAT?

Absolutely! I welcome all home made recordings! Hell, you could write a song specifically for the show and send it. Anything goes as long as it fits the theme!

 

CRAP, I CALLED IN AND MESSED UP MY REQUEST! CAN I TRY AGAIN?

Sure, just call back and I'll use the most recent voicemail.
